Mindfulness Workshop @ The Lounge, 7/F, The Prince Philip Dental Hospital
Dec 5 @ 12:45 pm – 1:45 pm

Speaker: Prof S D Shanti

Title: Self-Directed Neuroplasticity aided by the Support of Bio-Flavinoid Containing Organic Compounds and Poly-Rhythmic Tonal Elements (Meditation with Chocolate and Music)

The benefits of Mindfulness Meditation have been documented by research. However, for many people it is a health practice that is out of reach for various reasons: they may lack the time to engage in a formal meditation practice or lack the ability to focus in the way it is typically taught in mindfulness classes. They also may associate meditation with religion rather than as a secular health promoting practice.

Join us for a fun, entertaining and practical workshop that makes this secular health behavior accessible through the use of music and dark Swiss chocolate.

About the speaker:

Dr. S.D. Shanti is a dental educator, public health practitioner and author who focuses on the practical applications of psychology and behavioral sciences to promote the health and well-being of individuals and populations globally. An experienced meditation teacher, her writings on meditation have been read by several thousands of people around the world, and she has taught hundreds of people from ages eight to eighty and beyond about practical ways to meditate.

She is currently on the faculty of the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health, and has served as head of Public Health at the FDI World Dental Federation. She holds a DDS from Northwestern University, PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Vermont, a master’s degree in public health from Harvard University and is a dual specialist in pediatric dentistry and dental public health. Her cutting-edge work in advancing the application of psychology has been supported by UNICEF, and various foundations in the USA, UK and Switzerland. She is licensed to practice dentistry in the United States and psychology in Switzerland.
