Master of Science in Implant Dentistry

Pursue Advanced Theoretical Knowledge and Clinical Skills

Master of Science in Implant Dentistry

The Master of Science in Implant Dentistry is a course suitable for general dentists focusing on the fundamentals and expanding on advanced competencies within the dental implants field. Implant dentistry as a component of comprehensive dental care will include theoretical and clinical parts.

As a treatment modality that aims to replace missing teeth, it is essential to know and understand the indications and related risks when considering implants in the patient’s treatment plan.

Implant dentistry requires surgical and restorative skills from the operator to place and restore implants safely and successfully. Knowledge of advanced diagnostic methods and mastering and incorporating digital prosthodontic techniques and technologies is a must for implant dentistry. Lastly but equally important, emphasis is placed on maintaining the patient with implants and coping with possible complications. Although the course is academically led by the Periodontology and Implant Dentistry division of The University of Hong Kong, the educational roster comprises of renowned (international and local) prosthodontists, maxillofacial radiologists and oral maxillofacial surgeons.

In summary, the programme is a 2-year full-time (4-year part-time) curriculum designed for general dentists who wish to incorporate dental implants of fundamental to the moderately advanced difficulty level in their daily practice.
