The Prince Philip Dental Hospital (PPDH) holds a significant and cherished place in the history and development of the Faculty of Dentistry. For over four decades, it has served as the home for the Faculty, supporting our teaching and research endeavours and nurturing generations of dental professionals. The Faculty has always valued its long-term relationship with PPDH, and has sought to strengthen it.

To this end, Mr Huen Wong, Chairman of PPDH Board of Governors, and Mrs Frances Yim, Comptroller of PPDH were invited to join the Faculty Board meeting on March 21, 2024. During the meeting, we discussed ways to enhance the collaboration and communication between the two institutions. PPDH remains an integral part of the Faculty’s identity, serving as a cornerstone of its success and contributions to the field of dentistry.

The Faculty Board also received visits by Professor Ian Holliday, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), Professor Pauline Chiu, Associate Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), and Professor Samson Tse, Dean of Student Affairs at HKU. We had productive conversations about student well-being and teaching and learning initiatives of the University, and how these can benefit our students.

We are grateful for the commitment of both PPDH and the University in support of the Faculty’s advancement for the academic community and the wider oral healthcare landscape.
