HKU Faculty of Dentistry held Smiley Action Days 2018-2019 in four districts
HKU Faculty of Dentistry is in collaboration with a non-profit charitable organization Project Concern Hong Kong to enhance oral health, dental knowledge and self-care ability of Hong Kong citizens in four districts (Southern district, Central & Western district, Tsuen Wan district and Northern district) during 2018-2019. The event provided children and adults with free oral examination, preventive dental treatments, free dental counselling and oral health education in tent booths. A total of 423 adults and 250 children received free dental check-up, fluoride treatment (if needed) and individualized counselling. Sixteen patients received tooth extraction in a mobile dental van. Over 90% of the participants reported that they were satisfied with the program and their knowledge and awareness towards oral health were increased after joining the event.
The project was supported by the HKU Knowledge Exchange Fund 2018/19. More details can be obtained from the Faculty External Relations and Knowledge Exchange Unit or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Faculty of Dentistry at The University of Hong Kong is the premier dental school in Southeast Asia and the only institution in Hong Kong that provides undergraduate and postgraduate dental degrees.
