Fostering research innovation and collaboration
Staff and students present their research findings.
The Annual Scientific Meeting 2024 brought together a dynamic group of researchers and students who showcased their cutting-edge research findings through captivating oral presentations. The event fostered the exchange of ideas and sparked potential collaborations among participants. The event, held on January 31, 2024, was attended by around 140 staff and students with 28 oral presentations delivered.
In his opening remarks, Professor Thomas Flemmig, Dean of Dentistry, drew an analogy to football playing to highlight the significance of teamwork in research. Just as every player contributes to the success of a team, our research thrives when we elevate and support each other. No player, no idea is too small to make a significant impact on the grand stage of discovery.
Professor Zhiyong Fan delivers a keynote presentation on biomimetic sensing devices with nanostructures.
We were honoured to have Professor Zhiyong Fan, Chair Professor at the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering and Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to deliver a keynote presentation. He shared his expertise on biomimetic sensing devices with nanostructures, covering topics such as the essence of biomimetics, bio-inspired materials, nanowire array biomimetric retina, and biotic nose chip, etc. His profound knowledge and insights left an indelible mark in inspiring us to explore new frontiers of scientific possibility.
To acknowledge outstanding presentations, the meeting awarded four Best Presentation Awards. This recognition served as both a celebration of their achievements and an encouragement for all participants to continue their valuable work in the pursuit of academic excellence.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this event. Let's continue our journey towards impactful innovation!
