Greetings to the newly joined academic staff
The Faculty expresses its warmest regards to the academic staff who joined us between June 2023 and January 2024. We wholeheartedly wish them a successful start to their academic careers at HKU.
Professor Pu, Jingya
Clinical Assistant Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Professor Pu obtained a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and a Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) degree in OMFS from HKU in 2018 and 2022 respectively. She has also received the AO CMF International Fellowship to undergo training in Johns Hopkins University in 2023. Prior to joining our Faculty, she was a Hospital Dental Officer in OMFS. Her major research fields are computer-assisted surgery and medical 3D printing, and functional jaw reconstruction.
Professor Rijkschroeff, Patrick
Clinical Assistant Professor in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry
Professor Rijkschroeff obtained his Master of Science degree in Dentistry and a PhD degree from the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA) in 2010 and 2018 respectively. He completed his postgraduate training in Periodontology at ACTA in 2022 and holds a Diploma in Periodontology. Prior to joining our Faculty, he was part-time Lecturer and Researcher in ACTA. His major research fields are immunology, periodontology and ageing.
Professor Deng, Yu
Assistant Professor in Applied Oral Sciences & Community Dental Care
Professor Deng obtained her Bachelor of Engineering degree from Chang’an University in 2012, a Master of Science degree from City University of Hong Kong in 2013 and a PhD degree from HKU in 2017. Prior to joining our Faculty, she was a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering. Her major research areas include environmental microbiology, wastewater-based epidemiology, antibiotic resistance, and environmental bioinformatics.
Professor Hung, Kuo Feng
Assistant Professor in Applied Oral Sciences & Community Dental Care
Professor Hung obtained a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from Wuhan University in 2014, a Master of Dental Surgery degree in Oral Implantology from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2017 and a PhD degree from HKU in 2022. Prior to joining our Faculty he was a Post-doctoral Fellow in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His research interests cover fully digital workflow for implant treatment, static- and dynamic-guided navigation technologies for oral implant surgeries, diagnostic imaging in dental medicine, and artificial intelligence applications in dento-maxillofacial imaging.
Professor Hu, Mingxin
Clinical Assistant Professor in Restorative Dental Sciences
Professor Hu obtained a Bachelor of Medicine degree in Dental Medicine from Sichuan University in 2017 and an MDS degree in Endodontics from HKU in 2021. She is currently pursuing her PhD degree at HKU with a focus on pulp regeneration.
