Mainland Associations Visit

Organised by the Hong Kong Dental Association (HKDA) and co-hosted by the Faculty of Dentistry, a group of over 100 members from Guangxi and Fujian (Quanzhou) Dental Associations, as well as the Chinese Stomatological Association, visited the HKU Faculty of Dentistry and the Prince Philip Dental Hospital on June 9, 2023.

Dr James Tsoi, Assistant Dean (Innovation) of the Faculty, moderated the event, which began with welcome speeches from Dr Nelson Wong, President of HKDA and President of Asia Pacific Dental Federation, and Dr Century Tsang, Immediate Past President of HKDA. Following the welcome speeches, Professor CH Chu, Associate Dean (External Relations) of the Faculty, gave a presentation on the dental education, research and knowledge exchange initiatives provided by the Faculty of Dentistry over the past 40 years.

Knowledge Exchange is embedded in the Faculty’s mission and development. As normality resumes, we are glad to be able to exchange our experiences and knowledge with dental professionals from all around the world and stay connected.

After the presentations, the visitors were given a tour of the hospital to learn more on how the state-of-the-art facilities and their important roles in enhancing learning, teaching, clinical practice, and patient care. The group was particularly impressed by the Simulation Laboratory, Clinical Research Centres, Comprehensive Dental Clinics, etc.

Professor CH Chu, expressed his gratitude to the Hong Kong Dental Association for organising the event. “Knowledge Exchange is embedded in the Faculty’s mission and development. As normality resumes, we are glad to be able to exchange our experiences and knowledge with dental professionals from all around the world and stay connected,” he stated.
