Donor’s Visit to Institution for Advanced Dentistry Centres
In 2016, dentist and philanthropist Dr Richard Shing Kwong Lee generously donated HK$1 million to the Faculty of Dentistry. It has been contributing to the enhancement of the Institution for Advanced Dentistry – Clinical Research Centre (IAD-CRC).
In order to extend the Faculty’s gratitude to Dr Richard Lee, tours at the Institution for Advanced Dentistry – Multi-Specialty Clinic (IAD-MSC) and IAD-CRC were organised on 21 June 2022.

Dr Richard Lee first visited the IAD-MSC under the accompany of Professor Tak Wah Chow, Honorary Professor; Dr Dominic Ho, Clinical Assistant Professor in Periodontology, Dr Mike Leung, Clinical Associate Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Professor May Wong, Professor in Dental Public Health.
The visit showcased the IAD-MSC as a centre of excellence for the management of complex and severe oral conditions. The clinic also provides postgraduate dental education, fosters clinical innovation, supports applied research, and offers continuing dental and professional education to practice dentists and specialists.

The group then toured the IAD-CRC at the Prince Philip Dental Hospital. Professor May Wong, Director and Dr Dominic Ho, Deputy Director of the centre explained to Dr Richard Lee the facilities, research projects conducted at the CRC and impacts on the Faculty and the community. Professor Edward Lo, Chair Professor of Dental Public Health, elaborated on the oral check-up and interviews performed at the centre under the Hong Kong Government Oral Health Survey 2021.
Professor Thomas Flemmig, Dean of the Faculty, said, “Dr Lee’s generosity helps the Faculty move forward in research and education.” He then presented a plaque to Dr Richard Lee followed by a lunch. Attending the lunch also included Professor Gary Cheung, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Education), Professor Tak Wah Chow; Professor Chun Hung Chu, Associate Dean (External Relations); Dr Dominic Ho, Professor Lijian Jin, Clinical Professor in Periodontology and Professor May Wong. The event was concluded with joy.
