PhD Students Received International Awards
Dr Rosalind Chan, Dr James Tsoi and Dr Crystal Chen
Dr Crystal Chen and Dr Rosalind Chan, both PhD students in Applied Oral Science and Community Dental Care under the supervision of Dr James Tsoi, Associate Professor in Dental Materials Science, won Student Travel Awards in recognition of their excellence in dental biomaterials research at the recent 2022 annual meeting of Academy of Dental Materials (ADM) in Athens, Greece.
Dr Chen’s research topic is about the development and reliability of dentine analogue materials for evaluating ceramic crowns under fatigue, while Dr Chan studied on hybrid micro-/nano- structured titanium surfaces under a microfluidic model.
We have had a total of three students won this prestigious and dental materials specific award since the establishment of the travel award in 2017. Let’s keep up to continue the good standing of Dental Materials Science research.
Both Dr Chen and Dr Chan feel honoured to receive the award. They are grateful for the guidance and support from the HKU Faculty of Dentistry and Dr James Tsoi, who was also elected as a Members-At-Large (2022-2026) in the ADM Executive Office during the annual meeting.
