With the contribution of generations of accomplished academics, talented students, dedicated alumni, and outstanding administrators, HKU Dentistry has evolved into the comprehensive academic institution it is today.

Established only 40 years ago in 1982, the Faculty has risen to the top 2 dental school in the world according to the recent QS ranking by subject. This international recognition is a testimony of the Faculty’s renowned reputation.

We partner with and train two volunteer organizations in Lagos and Abuja, Nigeria, on using and interpreting intelligent web tool for oral cancer risk prediction. We believe the web tool may be impactful in regions with finite resources like Nigeria.

The awarded paper is a consensus statement that arose from the 2020 Behavioral and Social Oral Health Sciences Summit. It provides an international consensus outlining the action needed to advance and further integrate and translate behavioral and social sciences into oral health research, oral health promotion and health care, and the training of those working to ensure oral health for all.

The winning project enhances oral health awareness to the public, empowers NGOs to provide related services and benefit those in need. It also engages dental students and volunteers and help them develop a sense of social responsibility and willingness to give back to the community in life.

Interestingly, we found that preconditioned cells significantly enhanced the dental hard tissue formation within the regenerated pulp tissue.

Being the director of IAD-MSC, our vision is to become a world-renowned centre of excellence in advanced dentistry. We want to contribute to the oral health and wellbeing of people in Hong Kong; and be the leading centre for postgraduate education, training, and innovation.
