Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Year 5 student, Ms Annette Ng, was given the Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2022 during the Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award Presentation Ceremony 2022.
The Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC), HSBC and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) jointly organise the Innovation and Technology Scholarship (the Scholarship) which offers outstanding undergraduates of Hong Kong the opportunities to widen their international exposure, gain industry experience, and nurture their passion and commitment toward science and technology. In its 12th year, the Awardee Selection Committee selects 25 awardees from different universities and disciplines. Each awardee receives a scholarship of HK$150,000 to participate in a series of initiatives to fulfill their potential.
Ms Ng cares about her patients deeply. She presented her ideas on applying technology to minimize discomfort caused by dental problems and reduce treatment cost to the scholarship panel. “Through technology, Artificial Intelligence and remote consultation can bring efficiency to dental treatment,” she said. She especially pays attention to the latest technology which can help solve clinical problems. “The advanced learning facilities in the Faculty always inspire me on how to transform theory into practice by combining innovation and technology,” she mentioned. The Scholarship not only gives her a chance to present innovative ideas, but also provides a platform for her to meet like-minded people from various disciplines to exchange InnoTech knowledge and skills.
