The HKU Faculty of Dentistry has collaborated with ten kindergartens to provide onsite free dental examinations, silver diamine fluoride treatment and assess the dental fear and anxiety of the participating children. A total of 2,294 children participated in the project. Dental fear and anxiety were assessed. The majority of the children (96%) were rated as having positive or very positive behaviours. More than 80% of the children rated themselves on facial image scales that they were happy or very happy after the examination. All of the participating kindergartens were satisfied/very satisfied with the programme and agreed that the programme was helpful for improving and promoting oral health. The project was successfully implemented and well accepted by children, parents, and kindergarten teachers.
