HKU Faculty of Dentistry Community Services with Kwai Tsing District Health Centre

On 31 January 2026, the Knowledge Exchange (KE) team from HKU Faculty of Dentistry, together with Project Concern Hong Kong (PCHK), delivered a dental outreach service at the Kwai Tsing District Health Centre (Core Centre). The outreach service was led by Dr Conson Yeung, Dr Faith Zheng and Dr Olivia Zhang.

With the growing oral health needs among Hong Kong adults aged 45 and above, this initiative aimed to enhance access to preventive care, support early detection of oral diseases, and strengthen oral health awareness in the community. Our team, comprising 6 clinical practitioners, 13 dental students, and 5 support staff, provided services on-site throughout the day.

We offered a range of services, including:

  • Oral diseases screening (51 participants)
  • Preventive and primary treatments, including fluoride treatment (49 participants) and on-site scaling (17 participants)
  • Oral health education and referral support, with 30 clinic scaling appointments successfully arranged

The event was effective and well-received by participants, and it represented a meaningful step towards improving oral health and promoting preventive behaviours in the community.
