Restorative Dental Sciences
Dr. Khaing is a dedicated dental clinician-scientist specializing in geriatric and special care dentistry. He earned his PhD in 2019 from Tokyo Medical and Dental University, focusing on Gerodontology and Oral Rehabilitation. After four years as a senior research assistant with HKU research team, where he worked on clinical artificial intelligence for oral health promotion among the elderly, he expanded his research to include oral care for individuals with special needs as a leading investigator. He has secured competitive external funding from the Royal College of Surgeons of England as a principal investigator. His collaborative efforts have garnered numerous achievements, including IADR awards and a Gold Medal for invention. Additionally, he actively participates in HKU Knowledge Exchange initiatives, where he was a co-recipient of funding. With over 20 peer-reviewed publications in prosthodontics, geriatric dentistry, and AI applications in oral health, he continues to contribute significantly to the field.
