Dr Pearl P Liu is a Research Assistant Professor in Applied Oral Sciences & Community Dental Care at the Faculty of Dentistry HKU, and also serves as an Honorary Research Associate at HKU-Shenzhen Hospital. As a clinician-researcher, her primary research interests focus on Precision Dentistry and Clinical AI, which involves innovative prediction models and personalized preventive strategies for oral diseases, and use of cutting-edge imaging AI technology to revolutionize oral health promotion. Dr Liu's research has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the IADR Pediatric Oral Health Research Young Investigator Award, Finalist of the IADR Joseph Lister Award, Best Paper in Pediatric Dentistry, and HKU Research Output Prize. With MMed in Clinical Science of Stomatology (Conservative Dentistry) and clinical practices in Mainland China, she also investigates prediction of endodontic treatment outcomes and was recognized with the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Progress Award (co-I) for her contribution. In the last 5 years, she has secured 3 external research grants as a PI, and 3 external grants as a Co-I, including HMRF from Health Bureau HKSAR, and GRF from University Grants Committee. Dr Liu has published numerous peer-reviewed papers, including 16 in JCR-Q1 journals with an h-index of 13 and a total citation of 500+. She is currently serving Scientific Advisory Board for JDR Clinical & Translational Research.
