Professor Sharon Tay graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) and received a full scholarship for her specialist training in Master of Clinical Dentistry (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) at the University of Malaya (UM). She further obtained the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd); and is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologist (FICOI). She is a registered OMFS specialist with the Malaysian Dental Council. Her scope of clinical practice and special interests encompass craniomaxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery and temporomandibular joint disorders. Having served as the Honorary Publication Secretary for the Malaysian Dental Association, she is currently the Asia Pacific Representative for AO College under the AOCMF (Association for the Study of Internal Fixation).
