Orthodontic Webinar 2023

The Discipline of Orthodontics of The HKU Faculty of Dentistry has been organising annual Orthodontic Webinars since 2020. The webinars provide a platform for orthodontic experts from around the world to come together and explore cutting-edge developments in the field of orthodontic dentistry. This year, three Zoom courses will be offered on May 16, 18 and 19. They will cover the forefront topics on Biomechanical consideration in orthodontic treatments, tooth agenesis and molar distalization.

Continuing Dental Education

The next GDC seminar will be organised on 25 May 2023. Dr Gustavo Molina, Clinical Practitioner in Restorative Dental Sciences, will share “How to Provide the Evidence Base for Techniques and Interventions that Ensure Equal Treatment Outcomes for People with Disability”.

International Orthodontic Symposium

The 2nd IOF International Orthodontic Symposium, co-organized by the International Orthodontics Foundation (IOF) and The University of Hong Kong Faculty of Dentistry, will be held on June 16-18, 2023 in Hong Kong.

The Symposium titled "Advances in Clinical Orthodontics: Steering into the future" will cover a wide range of topics, including translational research, development and application of new appliances and technologies, and key aspects of modern orthodontics practice with increasing patient needs.

Additionally, there will be lectures and panel discussions on cutting-edge technologies in orthodontics. The symposium will look at innovations from 3D imaging and CBCT technology to 3D printing. We will try to answer the questions: How does the advancement in tech help resolve the issues in orthodontics? What challenges are still present? What are some potential new directions of use and application?

To nurture and educate of the next generation of dental professionals and encourage them to achieve the most optimal treatments for orthodontic patients, there will be a Rising Star session.
