Faculty’s engagement with institutions and industry

Shenzhen Stomatological Hospital (Pingshan) of Southern Medical University

Professor Thomas Flemmig, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Professor Chengfei Zhang, Associate Dean (Research and Innovation) and Clinical Professor in Endodontics, Mr Gerhard Zielinski, Director of Institute for Advanced Dentistry - Multi-Specialty Clinic recently visited the Shenzhen Stomatological Hospital (Pingshan) of Southern Medical University.

During their visit, both parties engaged in discussions on establishing communication mechanisms, exchanging insights on dental healthcare service operation, and enhancing talent development.

West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University

The Faculty welcomed a delegation from the Sichuan University on April 19, 2024. During their visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed, solidifying the commitment to collaboration. Key areas for collaboration include staff visits, joint activities, joint research projects, and student exchanges.

Both parties had a meaningful discussion to explore potential collaboration to benefit students and faculty members through shared knowledge and experiences. A special re-union took place between representatives from the West China School of Stomatology and alumni currently studying in HKU Faculty of Dentistry.

Faculty members and the delegation from the Sichuan University have a meaningful discussion.

Qingdao Municipal Government

The Faculty, together with Professor Anderson Shum, Associate Vice-President (Research and Innovation) at HKU, hosted a visit for the delegation from the Qingdao Municipal Government on April 22, 2024. The guests had the opportunity to tour the Faculty’s research and clinical facilities. The visit allowed them to gain firsthand insights into the Faculty’s capabilities and expertise in oral sciences.

During the visit, both parties explored the possibility of establishing the Faculty as an offshore hub for talent in oral sciences in Qingdao; securing funding support for technological innovation; and gaining policy backing for the integration and transformation of scientific and technological achievements within Qingdao.

Hospital of Stomatology, Xi'an Jiaotong University

The Faculty welcomed delegates from Xi’an Jiaotong University. The guests toured our Clinical Research Centre (CRC) and Central Research Laboratories (CRL). Discussions between the delegates and the Faculty centred around potential partnership opportunities such as research initiatives and academic exchanges to address important research questions in the field of dentistry.
