Dentist Sailing Club

Joined Alma Mater Race

Dentist Sailing Club team members.

On 18 December 2022, a group of HKU BDS alumni joined the Swiss Re YMC Alma Mater Race organised by the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club. Over 60 boats with 400 sailors representing their respective Alma Mater participated in the event. They raced in the Victoria Harbour towards the east and turned back near Tseung Kwan O and headed to the finishing line outside Causeway Bay. Lion Rock, a 40 feet sailboat sailed by our alumni, was decorated with HKU Faculty of Dentistry flags. Amid the cold weather, the dentist sailors completed the race and enjoyed their teamwork in sailing.

The dentist sailors are members of the recently formed Hong Kong Dentist Sailing Club. The club was established by a group of HKU BDS alumni passionate about sailing. Initially, alumni used to connect with one another via friends or networks. As time passed, the group of sailing dentists grew bigger and bigger, and eventually, a dentist sailing club was formed. They now organise regular sailing events and gatherings with the objectives of strengthening the bond among alumni and enjoying the beautiful nature as a stress breaker of their busy clinical work.
