All the Best to Dr Prasanna
(Left) Professor Thomas Flemmig, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry wishes Dr Prasanna Neelakantan a good life in USA.
Dr Prasanna Neelakantan, Assistant Dean (Research) cum Clinical Assistant Professor in Endodontics, is leaving the Faculty in January 2023. “I have had a phenomenal six years here spending the best of times at both the professional and personal front,” he said.
In these six years, Dr Prasanna Neelakantan committed to the Faculty as the Assistant Dean for Research and Bachelor of Dental Surgery Year 2 Director. He also served on several faculty and university-level committees. His effort and contributions have been recognised with the Knowledge Exchange Award, Teaching Feedback Award and the Outstanding Teacher Award. “I can only be delighted about these achievements. HKU has put me and my research on the global map. Being a clinician-scientist in one of the leading faculties of the world has honed my teaching, research, and administrative skills,” he elaborated.
He also feels fortunate to have mentored a group of highly motivated and remarkable doctoral candidates over these years and he hopes to continue working with them and other collaborators in the faculty and across HKU in the years to come. “While I certainly depart this place with sadness, I can always cherish these fond memories and carry with me the pride that I was a part of this institution,” he said.
Undoubtedly, although he will miss his amazing friends, the Faculty, the mere buzz of Hong Kong and the many conveniences that this city offers, he will also embrace his new life in San Francisco, USA. So, pay him a visit when you travel there!
While the Faculty wishes Dr Prasanna Neelakantan all the best in his new life and career, we would also like to congratulate Dr Wei Qiao, Clinical Assistant Professor in Applied Oral Sciences & Community Dental Care, who succeeds Dr Prasanna Neelakantan to serve as Assistant Dean (Research).
