Humanising Biomedical Engineering
Professor Xiang Zhang, HKU’s President and Vice-Chancellor delivers welcome remarks.
The inaugural BME International Symposium, held on June 3-4, 2024, united prominent figures in the realm of biomedical engineering (BME). Jointly organised by HKU Faculties of Dentistry, Engineering and Medicine, the symposium acted as a nexus for esteemed scientists, emerging researchers, innovators, as well as governmental and industrial authorities to share insights, exchange ideas, and explore advancements that revolutionise healthcare and improve lives on a global scale.
Centred around the theme “Humanising Biomedical Engineering”, the symposium emphasised the commitment of the BME community to prioritise human needs and well-being in technological innovation. BME plays a vital role in advancing medical diagnostics, drug research and development, and therapeutic breakthroughs that ultimately serve the betterment of society.
The event gathers leaders and talents in biomedical engineering.
Our distinguished speakers presented the latest cutting-edge research findings and engaged in discussions concerning the challenges and opportunities within the fields of biomaterials, bioelectronics, biocomputing, and bioimaging.
Thank you to all participants who have contributed to the success of the event. Together, we strive to shape the future of BME and advocate a more human-centric approach to healthcare.
