To celebrate the annual World Oral Health Day on March 20, the Faculty has been engaged in a series of activities to promote the importance of oral health for overall well-being.
We have invited esteemed members from the FDI World Dental Federation and distinguished dental professionals to share their experiences and insights on how maintaining good oral health can contribute to a happier and healthier life, resonating with the theme “A Happy Mouth is… A Happy Body”.
In collaboration with the Jockey Club Children Oral Health Project, we have organised the “A Happy Mouth is… A Happy Body: Parent-Child Colouring and Slogan Creation Competition”. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the significance of oral health and foster positive oral hygiene habits among children and their parents. More than 1,000 highly creative entries have been received!
Additionally, the Faculty is delighted to participate in Oral Health Week 2024, orgainsed by Hong Kong Dental Association (HKDA) during May 9-14. The kick-off ceremony featured a series of public health lectures delivered by our faculty members to dental practitioners.
Professor Chun Hung Chu, Associate Dean (Knowledge Exchange & Development) and Clinical Professor in Cariology, presented a lecture titled “Caries Detection and Management”. Professor Lijian Jin, Acting Dean, Clinical Professor and Modern Dental Laboratory Professor in Clinical Dental Science, shared his expertise on the topic “Could periodontal status reflect individual’s susceptibility to systemic health conditions? Rationale, evidence and clinical relevance”. This lecture shed light on the potential connections between periodontal health and overall systemic well-being.
