HKU Taster for Secondary School Students
Participants engage in hands-on learning.
What an amazing day at HKU Taster at Dentistry! Over 100 S2-S4 students had an incredible experience getting a glimpse into the life of a Bachelor of Dental Surgery student on April 3, 2024. The event started with an introduction of the Faculty by Professor Mike Leung, Associate Dean (Alumni & External Affairs) and Admissions Tutor. Participants then attended insightful lectures on dental radiology (by Dr Andy Yeung, Tutor in Radiography), dental tissue engineering & stem cells (by Professor Sang Jin Lee, Assistant Professor in Biofunctional Materials), and periodontology & implant dentistry (by Professor Melissa Fok, Clinical Assistant Professor in Periodontology & Implant Dentistry).
But that wasn’t all! Students also got hands-on in a stone cast finger-making workshop, putting their hand-eye coordination and mobility to the test. And to top it off, they enjoyed an exciting hospital tour to explore various dental learning centres.
Organised by the HKU Admissions Office, HKU Taster aims to provide secondary school students with a delicate taste of the vibrant energy of HKU campus life. It’s a unique opportunity to learn from our friendly and knowledgeable professors and participate in a range of captivating workshops.
