Academic Staff Gave a Lecture at IFEA Online Congress

Dr Prasanna Neelakantan delivered a plenary lecture at the 12th International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA) World Endodontic Online Congress which was organised from 12 - 14 August.

“Root canal disinfection is the cornerstone to the success of treatment” is the line that all of us have read in every possible scientific paper. However, millions of dollars is invested in instruments that prepare canals but not disinfection strategies.

It is such an honor to exchange the new findings and ideas developed through our research at HKU with the world’s most prestigious endodontic experts including academicians, clinicians and clinician-scientists.

In the plenary session: Recent Advances in Endodontics, Dr Prasanna presented the talk titled “Cleaning those canals: How much do we know?” He spoke of the current evidence base on root canal infections, the methods to tackle infections, a paradigm shift in infection management based on innovative research findings from his group and challenges that compromise disinfection.

Dr Prasanna said, “It is such an honor to exchange the new findings and ideas developed through our research at HKU with the world’s most prestigious endodontic experts including academicians, clinicians and clinician-scientists. The Congress was enjoyable and fruitful! There was fantastic feedback to the lecture.”
